The church is in the village of Ano Episkopi to the west of the Geopark of Sitia.

It is a single-aisled Byzantine church dedicated to the Virgin Mary, which was later transformed into a three-aisled church with the addition of the aisles of Saint George and Saint John the Baptist. At the entrance of the temple there is a coat of arms of the 16th century.
