The house is in the village of Piskokefalo, south of Sitia. The settlement was a fief of the Kornaros family.

The family of the famous Cretan poet of the end of the 16th century, Vincenzo Kornaros lived initially in Trapezounta in Sitia, and later settled in Piskokefalo. Their restored house and watermill can be seen today, together with the church of Agios Georgios, that bears their coat of arms.
