Gorges
Margarites Gorge

This gorge is near the village of Margarites, known for its pottery workshops. There exist many gorges in the area, that have been created from the streams and tributaries of Geropotamos river.
The gorge of Margarites, like those of Orthes and Eleftherna are characterised by rich vegetation and small, pleasant walking routes.
The rocks of the gorges are limestones created during the Miocene period and have a white and yellow colour.

The project is implemented through the Regional Development Fund of Crete
