The beach is at the exit of a large olive grove, north of Kouremenos Bay. You can access it by road following the road to Palekastro, that ends in a 1.5 km dirt road.

Maridati stands out for its colourful shales and rocks of the phyllite-quartzite section. A seasonal wetland with brackish water is formed close to the beach. The area is mentioned in an engraving of 1618 and is probably associated with commercial activities of the Venetian period.

There is also a tavern that caters to visitors, nearby.
