Plateaus – other geotopes
Petradolakia

A unique landscape exists south of Anogia, close to the Observatory of Skinakas. Dolines, sinkholes, and craters make up an impressive scene. The landscape is predominantly made of limestone rocks of the Tripoli type, that are enriched in places by platy limestones and white siliceous rocks.
The rocky landscape hosts characteristic species of flora and fauna like horstrisea (Horstrissea dolinicola) which grows in dolines around Skinakas. In late spring, the area welcomes the endemic butterfly of Psiloritis: Kretania psylorita.
