The beach is at the north-eastern end of the Geopark, at the cape Sidero, 24km away from Sitia.

It is one of the most impressive and characteristic coastal landscapes of Crete. The unique in Europe date palm forest, is alongside a long beach with fine sand, pebbles, and clear turquoise waters, awarded with a blue flag. Where the palm grove meets the beach, there is a wetland that is home to birds and plants.

The beach is organised and has a cafe and a nearby restaurant.
