The beach is located at the southernmost tip of Crete, near the secluded cape Lithino. It is the well-hidden exit of a gorge that flows through the stream Vathi and forms a creek with clear blue waters, sand, pebbles, rocks with cavities and tamarisks.

Vathi, due to its isolation, was a retreat for the ascetics of the Odigitria Monastery. You can access it from a dirt road starting from the monastery or by boat from Matala, Kokinos Pyrgos or Agia Galini.

There is a small cafe to cater visitors’ needs.
