Toumbotos Prinos is a refuge of the Mountaineering Club of Rethymno and is in the west of Psiloritis at an altitude of 1600m. It was completed in 1984, and its plan was inspired by the landscape of Psiloritis and the mitata.
You can reach the refuge both by road and on foot. From the village of Kouroutes a 12km long dirt road leads to it. The path, part of which belongs to the European E4 path, starts from the village of Fourfouras and reaches the refuge within about four hours.
From Toumbotos Prinos the ascent to the peak of Psiloritis (Timios Stavros) requires three hours of hiking. The refuge can accommodate 30 people. For visits or bookings, contact the Rethymno Mountaineering Club.
