The gorge is situated to the west of Sfakia and starts from the Byzantine church of Timios Stavros. To reach the entrance, you must hike for about 1.5 hours from Anopoli or take a dirt road.
From the entrance to the exit of the gorge, in Chora Sfakion, it is three hours of hiking. Close to the exit is the beach of Iligas, with big cave like formations.
