Plateaus – other geotopes
Megali Kefala

Megali Kefala (big head) is a beach that lies north of Maridati and south of Vai. You can access it through a 5km long hike. This proposed geo-route that starts from Vai, continues to the top of Skopeli, passes from the beach of Megali Kefala and returns to Vai.

On the slopes of the beach, you can see the impressive multi-coloured metamorphic rocks of the phyllite – quartzite unity. Megali Kefala is almost always calm, with turquoise waters, pebbles and caves that offer shade.

The project is implemented through the Regional Development Fund of Crete
