The refuge is above the Omalos plateau, at 1650m of altitude, in the western part of the White Mountains. The view towards Samaria gorge, the Libyan Sea, and the peaks of Gigilos, Volikas, Melidaou and Pahnes is unique.
It was founded in 1970 and can accommodate 45 people. You can reach the refuge by car from Omalos, via a 5km dirt road or on a 1,5-hour hike starting from Xyloskalo. The route is moderate and is suggested from April to October.
