Plateaus – other geotopes
Source of Zaros

At the foothills of Psiloritis lies the village of Zaros, in an area with many springs, formed by the Gergeri – Kamares fault. The continuing importance of water for the area is attested in the Minoan settlement of Kourtes, the Roman aqueduct of Gortys, the old watermills within the settlement and the modern artificial lake of Votomos.
The area around the lake is ideal for leisure activities like hiking in the gorge of Agios Nikolaos, the forest of Rouvas and the European E4 path.

The project is implemented through the Regional Development Fund of Crete
