The church is in the village of Kalamas in Mylopotamos area, 33km from Rethymno.
It is a small cross-shaped church with dome and two narthexes and dates to the 12th century.
The wall paintings are only partially preserved and depict figures of saints in the cross-vaults as well as the martyrdom of Saint George. The quality and style of the paintings show connections with the art of Constantinople, the main centre of byzantine art of the time.
